UP Man Promises To Marry 50 Women, Including A Judge, And Cheats Them

He befriended women online and asked them to marry him. And once he had earned the women's trust, he would disappear with their money. This was the modus operandi of Mukeem Khan, a conman who had cheated over 50 women across the country, including a woman judge who failed to see through his lies. Khan, 38, a resident of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch recently for extorting money from women on false pretexts. He created multiple accounts on matrimonial websites with fake identities and trapped women in his intricate web of lies. Khan told the cops he used to target Muslim women - unmarried, widowed and divorced - for marriage. He introduced himself as a government officer and enticed them with fake stories about his wife being dead and he being unable to take care of his daughter. Khan, who is married and has three children, used to share photos of his wife and daughter with these women. He even met their families and fix the wedding d

India's Likely XI vs Ban: No 3rd Pacer, 3 Spinners Are Ashwin, Jadeja And...

As India prepares to face Bangladesh in the first Test of their upcoming series, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has recommended a bold strategy for the Indian team. Raina suggested that India should deploy a spin-dominant attack with three spinners and two fast bowlers for the match, which begins on Thursday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Raina's strategy is driven by the nature of the Chennai pitch, which he expects to favor spinners due to its black soil composition. He proposed selecting Ravichandran Ashwin , Ravindra Jadeja , and Kuldeep Yadav as the spin trio, alongside fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah . "I believe India should go with five bowling options, that is three spinners and two pacers. Mohammad Siraj has been doing very well in the past few years in Red ball cricket, we all know how good Jasprit Bumrah is, and what he has done for the Indian cricket team in the past few years barely any fast bowlers in the world of cricket has d

Water Storage Breach At Vedanta Alumina Unit In Odisha Impacts Farm Land

Image
A water storage facility breach at miner Vedanta Aluminium's unit in Odisha has impacted agricultural land, the company said on Monday. The incident, which happened at Vedanta's Lanjigarh alumina refinery in Odisha on Sunday, has alarmed environment experts who pointed out it was a serious matter as the toxic byproduct 'red mud' was involved. The pumped water level, or PWL, has causticity in water, meaning it can corrode organic tissue by damaging skin, eyes and mucus membranes. The water overflowed due to heavy rain, Vedanta Aluminium said. Visuals of the industrial incident show process water lake downstream of a pond that appeared to have been formed by 'red mud'. A large volume of muddy red water was also seen flowing into open areas. The water covered the ground where some trees stood, and ran over other forms of vegetation. 'Red mud' is the waste generated in production of alumina from bauxite. It is also known as 'bauxite residue'.

"I think the meeting was positive. Am sure they think too," she said. "Or why else we will sign the minutes of the meeting and they would sign it too?" she added. "We have accepted more of their demands, because they are young. I know they say they will go and discuss and then will decide on lifting the ceasework. But I have requested them to do so, citing the condition of patients, especially in view of the floods in some of the districts," the Chief Mi

Iran-Backed Houthis Strike Israel With Ballistic Missile For 1st Time

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would inflict a "heavy price" on the Iran-aligned Houthis who control northern Yemen, after they reached central Israel with a missile on Sunday for the first time. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said the group struck with a new hypersonic ballistic missile that travelled 2,040 km (1270 miles) in just 11 1/2 minutes. After initially saying the missile had fallen in an open area, Israel's military later said it had probably fragmented in the air, and that pieces of interceptors had landed in fields and near a railway station. Nobody was reported hurt. Air raid sirens had sounded in Tel Aviv and across central Israel moments before the impact at around 6:35 a.m. local time (0335 GMT), sending residents running for shelter. Loud booms were heard. Reuters saw smoke billowing in an open field in central Israel. At a weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said the Houthis should have known that Israel would exact a "heav

Brazil Court Blocks Couple's Chosen Baby Name To Prevent Bullying In Future

A Brazilian court banned a couple from naming their newborn after an Egyptian king, citing the possibility that it could lead to bullying. Catarina and Danillo Primola wanted to give their newborn boy the name Piye-a historic figure who was the first black pharaoh of Egypt. Piye was an important figure, ruling Egypt for 30 years while helping establish the 25th dynasty. However, the court intervened stating a fear that the unusual name would expose him to ridicule and bullying during his lifetime. In coming to this judgment, the court clearly compromised its cultural objective of understanding the naming tradition for the potential social life the child was likely to face. "There was a word there that talked about the black pharaoh," Danillo Primola told Daily Mail. "We went to research what it was like and we found the story of Piie, who was a Nubian warrior who fought and conquered Egypt and became the first black pharaoh." They chose to name their son in hono

Declined Offer To Run for PM's Post, Was Not My Aim In Life: Nitin Gadkari

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said a political leader once offered to support him if he were to enter the race for the Prime Minister's post, but he declined the offer stating that he did not nurse that ambition. "I remember one incident -- I would not name anyone -- that person said if you are going to become prime minister, we will support you," Gadkari said at a journalism awards function here, without specifying when the conversation took place. "But, I asked why you should support me, and why should I take your support. To become the prime minister is not the aim in my life. I am loyal to my conviction and my organisation, and I am not going to compromise for any post because my conviction is foremost for me," the senior BJP leader added. In his speech, Nitin Gadkari underlined the importance of ethics in both journalism and politics. Recalling a meeting with a senior CPI functionary, Nitin Gadkari said he told the communist leader that late

Man Sues Realtors After Finding Jeff Bezos Bought His Home For Less Price

A Brazilian businessman alleges a realtor deceived him into selling his Miami Beach mansion for $6 million lower than its true worth to Amazon Boss Jeff Bezos and is now suing him, according to a lawsuit reported reported by The Wall Street Journal. Leo Kryss, one of the founders of the Brazilian toy and electronics company Tectoy, claims the real estate company Douglas Elliman told him that a prospective buyer for his house in exclusive Indian Creek Village won't pay more than $79 million. Mr Kryss had listed the seven-bedroom, 11 1/2-bathroom mansion, covering 19,000 square feet, for $85 million.  Now Kryss is suing Elliman for the $6 million he believes he forfeited by not realizing Bezos was the buyer, according to people familiar with the matter, according to The WSJ. The lawsuit filed in July by Kryss said that he asked Douglas Elliman CEO Jay Parker if the interested buyer was the world's second richest man, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Parker allegedly let him know tha

After Madhya Pradesh Horror, A Relook At Over 45 Alleged Gang-Rape Cases

Image
In the wake of a recent robbery and alleged gang-rape at Jam Gate, a popular tourist spot near Indore, disturbing details from a similar case at Kajligarh Fort have emerged. Nine years ago, over 45 women were allegedly gang-raped at Kajligarh Fort during a period of two years. Although the Jam Gate incident has raised concerns, Indore Rural Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal has said the two incidents are not connected. A public interest petition (PIL) was filed in the Indore bench of the high court on the Kajligarh gang-rape cases. However, many are questioning why the government dismissed the police reports on such a serious matter. The main accused in the Kajligarh cases had admitted to the crime, but no substantial action was taken. Similar to the Jam Gate incident, the survivors from the Kajligarh cases have refused to file police cases, raising further concerns about the handling of these cases. In 2015, a group of BTech students visiting Kajligarh Fort were assaulted by m

India Test Squad: BCCI's Vice-Captaincy Decision Baffles Everyone

Amid the chatter around Jasprit Bumrah being potentially rested for the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh, the marquee pacer surprisingly found a place in the squad for the first Test. Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant also marked his return to the Test side after nearly 20 months out as India announced their 16-man squad for the series opener on Sunday. While some big names returned to the squad, some prominent names missed out too. However, another decision from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee that raised eyebrows was the absence of a designated vice-captain.  When India took on England in their last Test assignment, Jasprit Bumrah was named the vice-captain. Impact On Justin Trudeau's Government As Key Sikh Ally Withdraws Support

An already beleaguered Justin Trudeau has been left in a politically precarious place as key ally Jagmeet Singh's New Democratic Party (NDP) withdrew support for his minority Liberal government ahead of the general election next year. The NDP leader made the announcement in a video message on social media, saying the Liberals "have let people down" and that they "don't deserve another chance from Canadians". Though it is unlikely that the Trudeau government would fall, the prime minister would have to seek support from other opposition lawmakers in the House of Commons chamber. Meanwhile, Canadian leader of opposition Pierre Poilievre held a press conference where he dared Jagmeet Singh, who he refers to as 'sell out Singh', to call for elections immediately. Early elections could suit the Conservatives, who have a good chance at winning amid the anti-incumbency against Mr Trudeau's government over a housing crisis and inflation. There is un

"The government had earlier announced his name but now it has been withheld," a source said. Ramakrishna was not available for comment. Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa clarified that the award is only withheld and not cancelled. "There was a government orde
