Watch: Dhoni Can't Help But Applaud CSK Star's Flying Catch Of Warner

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Matheesha Pathirana took a gravity-defying catch to dismiss Delhi Capitals (DC) batter David Warner in their IPL 2024 match on Sunday. Warner for the reverse scoop after Mustafizur Rahman bowled a slower delivery. While Warner seemed to have time the ball pretty well, the lack of pace on that delivery allowed Pathirana to take a leap and grab the ball with one hand. Warner had a look of disbelief on his face while CSK icon MS Dhoni lauded Pathirana for his effort. Dhoni was seen clapping to acknowledge Pathirana and his reaction has gone viral on social media. "Faf At No. 3, Drop...": IND Great Suggests Huge Changes In RCB Playing XI

Former Indian cricket team batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth suggested massive changes to the Royal Challengers Bangalore playing XI in the IPL 2024 after their loss to Kolkata Knight Riders. During a discussion on Star Sports, Srikkanth said that Will Jacks should be given a chance as an opener with Virat Kohli while Faf du Plessis should come out to play at No. 3. He also suggested that RCB should drop Alzarri Joseph as well as Rajat Patidar and include an Indian fast bowler like Akash Deep . "Will Jacks is a brilliant off-spinner, I think we can push him for 2 overs. The line-up according to me should be, if I was the captain. Will Jacks, Virat Kohli opening. Faf du Plessis at No. 3, Cameron Green at 4, Glenn Maxwell , and then you drop Alzarri Joseph, drop Patidar and play an Indian fast bowler - Akash Deep," Srikkanth said on Star Sports. "Then what happens is that you have good balance with both bat and ball. Otherwise, you will be struggling while bowling. Y

Kohli's Flicked 6 Off KKR's Rs 24.75 Crore Buy Viral. Gavaskar Says This

Woman Says Air India Gave Away Mother's Business Class Seat, Airline Reacts

A woman took to X to slam Air India after the airline allegedly gave her mother's Business class seat to another passenger on a flight from Delhi to Washington DC. The user, Vitasta, called the airline's behaviour "absolutely ridiculous" and criticised Air India for showing "no regard for customers.'' In a tweet, she recounted the frustrating experience saying how her mother was initially told that her business class seat did not recline. She was then told that the seat was reserved for the crew, but later another passenger was seen sitting there. Meanwhile, her mother was moved to economy class with a fixed armrest which was ''uncomfortable and unacceptable'' to her.  ''@airindia how dare you give my mom's business class seat to someone else on a long haul flight from Delhi to Washington DC? First telling her the seat doesn't recline, then saying the seat is for the crew and then she finds someone else sitting there as s

"Questions For You": M Kharge Counters PM's "Browbeat and Bully" Comment

Congress's Mallikarjun Kharge issued a strong rebuttal this evening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comment that "To browbeat and bully others is vintage Congress culture". In a statement that started with a mild "it is not proper form for the PM to comment on our judiciary", the Congress chief went on to ask four pointed questions and accused the Prime Minister of being "personally responsible" for "usurping" the powers of institutions and "weakening our country". What drew the Congress chief's rejoinder was a blistering post by PM Modi earlier today after 600 lawyers wrote to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, alleging attempts by "a vested interest group" to undermine the judiciary's integrity and defame courts. "To browbeat and bully others is vintage Congress culture. Five decades ago, they itself had called for a 'committed judiciary' - they shamelessly want commitment from others for

BJP Welcoming Tainted Leaders? "Doors Open For All," Says Finance Minister

All major political parties encashed electoral bonds and nobody has a moral authority to say anything as it was legal and according to law, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. She also said that given the Supreme Court's judgment against electoral bonds, more debate is needed to find a better system for electoral funding. The minister said the law, now scrapped by the top court, was passed by parliament and the bonds were purchased as per the prevailing law of the time. "It was passed by parliament and based on the law, bonds were bought and encashed by all parties but one... Everyone has received from everybody. Every donor has given to everybody. "The very party which now says this is a scam, this is a scandal, had also taken money through the bonds. Tell me what moral authority anyone has to speak because it was the law then... it went lawfully. It was a step better than what prevailed earlier," Ms Sitharaman said. On what the new government can do in t

SRH's 277/3 Is Not The Highest In T20 Format - A Look At Top Team Totals

Records tumbled left-right and centre as Sunrisers Hyderabad smashed 277 for three, the highest total in IPL history, to leave Mumbai Indians shell shocked on Wednesday. Travis Head (62 off 24) and Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23) came up with a sensational display of power-hitting, that saw the latter snatching the franchise record for fastest fifty from the Australian within minutes. Heinrich Klaasen (80 not out off 34 balls) provided the fireworks in the end to help SRH break an 11-year-old record. The previous highest total in IPL was 263 for five achieved by Royal Challengers Bangalore back in 2013. It was raining fours and sixes throughout the innings as Head and Sharma toyed with the Mumbai Indians attack. Head, who was surprisingly left out of the playing eleven for the opening game, reinforced his status as one of the most dangerous batters in the game with a whirlwind effort. He broke David Warner 's record of the fastest fifty by a SRH batter with a 18-ball half-century

Violence-Hit Manipur's Mega 5-Day Holi Muted, Colourless This Year

Image
Violence-hit Manipur saw a muted Holi, or Yaosang, this year. One of the biggest festivals of the Meitei community, a majority of them Hindus, its scale is such that the Meiteis celebrate Yaosang for five days. The celebrations are dominated by community sports events such as football, marathon, volleyball, etc which comes naturally in the state that has given world champion athletes despite its relatively small population. With over 50,000 people including members of the Kuki-Zo tribes internally displaced across the state and living in harsh conditions in relief camps, the Meitei community has held back on celebrating the spring festival of colours this year. "A symbolic Yaosang is what the Meitei people want. The festivities may be done away with this year. But Yaosang marks the coming of spring, of being together, of generosity and community work," Elizabeth Kh, a social sector professional from Manipur, told NDTV. Yaosang is especially popular with children. Every yea

Hemant Soren's Sister-In-Law Is BJP's Pick For Jharkhand's Dumka Seat

The BJP announced the names of three candidates in Jharkhand, including Sita Soren - former JMM MLA and sister-in-law of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren - from Dumka (ST) constituency. The party on March 2 announced that sitting MP Sunil Soren, who had defeated JMM president Shibu Soren in the 2019 polls by a margin of 47,590 votes, will seek re-election from Dumka. In a blow to the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, three-term MLA and elder daughter-in-law of party patriarch Shibu Soren, Sita Soren joined the BJP on March 20 citing "isolation" and "neglect" by JMM since the death of her husband Durga Soren in 2009. Dumka will go to polls on June 1. In the two other seats of Chatra and Dhanbad, Kalicharan Singh and Dulu Mahato will contest respectively, the party announced. In Chatra, the BJP reposed faith in Kalicharan Singh denying a ticket to the sitting MP Sunil Kumar Singh who won by a margin of 3.77 lakh votes. In Dhanbad too, the party dropped sitting MP

"Privileged Pedigree Has Disappeared": Vice President's Dig At Opposition

In an apparent dig at the opposition and dynastic politics, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today said democratic values blossom when there is equality before the law and where there is no patronage, favouritism, or nepotism. Speaking at the NDTV Indian Of The Year awards, Mr Dhankhar said, "Democratic values optimally blossom and flourish when there is equality before the law when there is transparent and accountable governance, and where patronage, favouritism, and nepotism have no space. There was a time when these three pernicious tendencies dominated our workings. But that is a matter of the past." The privileged pedigree has disappeared and those who thought they were more equal than the others have realised this to their pain, he asserted. "The privileged pedigree has disappeared. Equality before the law is the writing on the wall. Those who thought they were immune to the law, above the law, are different than others, have realised it to their pain. What can b

Arvind Kejriwal Seeks Cop's Removal, Court Wants CCTV Footage Preserved

A local court has directed to preserve CCTV camera footage on a plea filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, seeking the removal of a Delhi Police officer deployed for security in the court for alleged misconduct. "Application has been filed on behalf of the accused (Kejriwal) stating that the security staff/in-charge responsible for bringing him for production before the court, namely ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) AK Singh, is unnecessarily harsh and mishandled the people around the courtroom," Special Judge Kaveri Baweja noted. The application was filed by Kejriwal on Friday, along with his submissions opposing the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) plea for his custody. Brazilian Woman Who Carried Dead Foetus For 56 Years Dies After Surgery

An 81-year-old woman in Brazil died after undergoing surgery to remove a 56-year-old foetus from her abdomen, Metro reported. The woman, identified as Daniela Vera, unknowingly had an ectopic pregnancy when she was younger and complained to doctors numerous times about pain and a bulge in her belly. She had been feeling unwell with stomach discomforts for several weeks before her doctor's appointment. Sadly, the doctors didn't spot the calcified baby inside her during the first appointment. Instead, they treated her for a water infection, before sending her to another hospital to get 3D scans.  Despite having seven children, Ms Vera's condition went unnoticed until she received the 3D scans. This revealed lithopedion, a rare condition that happens when a baby dies during pregnancy and isn't absorbed by the body, Metro reported.  The 81-year-old then went into surgery, following which she was moved into the intensive care unit (ICU). Sadly, she died the next day, on

Wearing 'Sindoor' Religious Duty Of Woman As It Shows She Is Married: Court

A family court in Indore in Madhya Pradesh has asked a woman to return to her husband's home with immediate effect while observing that wearing the ritualistic ' sindoor' (vermillion) was the duty of a (Hindu) woman as it demonstrates that she is married. Indore family court Principal Judge NP Singh's direction came while hearing a petition of a man seeking restoration of his rights under Hindu Marriage Act after his wife walked out of the marriage five years ago. In his order of March 1, the judge said, "When the statement of the woman was recorded in the court, she admitted she was not wearing 'sindoor' . "Shouldn't Have To Pay Higher Prices...": US vs Apple Over iPhone Monopoly

The US Department of Justice sued Apple on Thursday for illegally maintaining a monopoly for its iPhone by stifling competition and imposing exorbitant costs on consumers. The lawsuit, also brought by multiple US states, attacked the iPhone for raking in hundreds of billions of dollars by making it difficult for consumers to switch away to cheaper smartphones and devices. The long anticipated case against Apple sees the company founded by Steve Jobs in 1976 clash with Washington after largely escaping US government scrutiny for nearly a half century. It joins Amazon, Google and Facebook-owner Meta which are also facing antitrust lawsuits in the United States. News of the lawsuit sent shares in Apple down by as much as 3.75 percent on Wall Street on Thursday. At the heart of the case is Apple's alleged exclusionary practices that set strict and at times opaque conditions on firms and developers seeking to reach the iPhone's 136 million US users. According to the lawsuit, t

Arvind Kejriwal Arrested: Decade Long BJP-AAP Tussle Reaches Its Crescendo

The decade-long rivalry between the AAP led by Arvind Kejriwal and the BJP ruling at the Centre reached a crescendo on Thursday with the arrest of the Delhi chief minister by the ED in an excise policy-linked money laundering case. The tussle between the two sides began with their almost simultaneous rise to power with the BJP led by Narendra Modi receiving a massive mandate in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and the AAP forming the government in Delhi with a historic victory a year later by winning 67 assembly seats out of 70. Even before this, Mr Kejriwal, after a brief stint as chief minister of Delhi in 2013, challenged Prime Minister Modi in a much-publicised contest from Varanasi in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, setting the stage for a rivalry that has continued over the years. Speaking in the Delhi Assembly in February this year, Mr Kejriwal, who is also the AAP national convener, asserted that the AAP is "the biggest threat" to the BJP and vowed to liberate the country from i

"Take Stringent Action": BJP To Poll Body On Rahul Gandhi's 'Shakti' Remark

The BJP Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Rahul Gandhi for his "fight against a shakti" remarks at a recent rally in Mumbai, and urged the poll panel to take "stringent action" against the Congress leader and issue directions for lodging an FIR against him. In a memorandum to the poll panel, BJP leaders Hardeep Singh Puri and Om Pathak alleged Mr Gandhi's "fight against a shakti" remarks were rendered with "malicious intention" of insulting the religious values associated with 'shakti' and creating enmity among religions to appease "some religious community". "The statement made by Gandhi wherein he says that the fight is with Shakti was made with a malicious intention to hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus. A large section of Hindus in India offer prayers to Shakti in Hinduism to the extent there exists a Shakti sect who refer to the Devi as Shakti," the BJP leaders charge
