"Either You Will Survive Or I Will": Uddhav Thackeray To Devendra Fadnavis

Virtually kickstarting the campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) President Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday challenged Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying "Either you will survive or I”, triggering a protest from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at a pre-election preparatory meeting of party workers and leaders from Mumbai, Mr Thackeray said, “We endured everything but stood firm and taught the BJP a lesson in the Lok Sabha elections." “Our party was broken, we were targeted by central probe agencies, money power was used against us, and they even wanted to throw us in jail… But we survived everything and emerged victorious,” he said amid thunderous applause. The former chief minister recalled how ex-Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had informed him that Mr Fadnavis was 'conspiring' to dump both Uddhav Thackeray and Aditya Thackeray in jail.

I'll tell the captain right away. Yes or no?''  When a passenger asked the flight attendant to call the captain, she refused and said, ''I don't want any bullying against my crew.'' Kumbhar, a 'Warkari', said he visits Pandharpur every year on Ashadha Ekadashi and Kartiki Ekadashi. This time, the dog too accompanied him, he said. "Maharaj has always liked listening to bhajans. Ex-India Selector Pinpoints Gambhir's Biggest Challenge, Says "You Need..."

Gautam Gambhir's key task as India head coach will be man-management and not coaching a bunch of talented players in their respective skills, said former player and ex-chief selector Sandeep Patil on Friday. Gambhir is set to start his tenure with a limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka comprising three T20Is and as many ODIs, with the first game in the shortest format set to be played on Saturday. "I don't think his job is to coach the Indian team. His job is to help the Indian team,” Patil told PTI Videos in an exclusive interview here. “That's how it works at the top level. You need player management. That will be the challenge for Gambhir.” “He has done it and I am sure he will continue to do the same with the Indian cricket team," said Patil on the sidelines of an event organised by Shrachi Rajasthan Tigers. Patil, a member of India's World Cup winning team in 1983, hoped Gambhir will continue to have success at international level after excelling in the IPL.

"Breakdown Of Federal System...": Judge's Dissenting Verdict On Mineral Tax

In a dissenting verdict, Supreme Court judge Justice BV Nagarathna on Thursday said if the power to levy taxes on mineral resources are given to the states, there would be "breakdown of the federal system" as they would compete among themselves and jeopardise mineral development. Justice Nagarathna was the lone judge on the nine-judge constitution bench who did not concur with the majority verdict penned by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud which held that the legislative power to tax mineral rights vests with the states and the royalty paid on minerals is not a tax. Holding a contrary view, Justice Nagarathna, in her 193-page verdict, said royalty payable on minerals is in the nature of tax and not merely a contractual payment. "If royalty is not held to be a tax and the same being covered under the provisions of the MMDR Act, 1957, it would imply that despite Entry 54-List I and the declaration made in section 2 of the MMDR Act, 1957…, taxes on mineral rights could be im

Centre Criticises Kerala For Appointing Official For "External Cooperation"

State governments should not intrude into matters beyond their constitutional jurisdiction, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday criticising the Kerala government for appointing a secretary for "external cooperation". Citing provisions in the Constitution, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that matters relating to foreign affairs are the "sole prerogative" of the central government. On July 15, the Kerala government issued an order giving K Vasuki, secretary in the labour and skills department, the additional charge of "the matters connected with external cooperation". "The Constitution of India under the seventh schedule, list 1 (or the) Union list, item 10, clearly specifies that foreign affairs and all matters which bring the Union into relation with any foreign country, are the sole prerogative of the Union Government," Jaiswal said. "It is not a concurrent subject and definitely not a state subject. Our positi

Pakistan's powerful army sent its officers to London in 2022 to convince former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to return to the country to "save" it from destruction under Imran Khan's regime, the ruling PML-N supremo's son-in-law claimed on Wednesday. Nawaz, 74, had returned from London in October last year after spending four years in self-imposed exile on medical grounds. Upon his arrival, he was acquitted in all the cases he was facing including the Al-Azizia Mills corruption case in which he was serving a seven-year imprisonment before leaving for the UK. "The Army had gone to London (in 2022) and touched the knees of Nawaz Sharif and requested him to come to Pakistan and save it from the destruction of (former prime minister) Imran Khan," Capt Muhammad Safdar (retd.) while addressing party workers of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He said when Nawaz returned to become prime minister for the fourth time then the powerful circles (a

"Firing Should Scare Salman Khan": Lawrence Bishnoi's Brother Told Shooter

Fire shots in such a manner that it scares Bollywood superstar Salman Khan -- this was the blunt, one-line message given by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's younger brother Anmol to one of the gunmen involved in the shooting outside the actor's Mumbai home, police said in a chargesheet filed in the case. The Mumbai police's crime branch, probing the sensational firing case, earlier this month filed a 1,735-page chargesheet before the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court. Conspiracy of firing at the actor's house was hatched with the intention of establishing a stronghold and supremacy in the country's financial capital with the aim of getting pecuniary and other advantages for the Bishnoi gang, according to the chargesheet. The chargesheet included various investigation papers incorporated in three volumes. One such document is the transcript of an audio chat between Anmol Bishnoi and arrested shooter Vickykumar Gupta. Explained: EPFO's Round-The-Clock 'Contact Centre' And What It Will Do

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is working on a round-the-clock multilingual "contact centre" for its nearly seven crore active subscribers. The planned centre will remain functional 24×7 across 365 days. The move is aimed at offering a single-window interface to those wanting to register complaints or requiring recourse to a redressal mechanism. This comes after EPFO faced backlash on social media recently over delays in complaint resolution and an increase in the rates of rejection of settlement claims, The Indian Express reported. A tender has been floated by the government body to set up this contact centre for "a robust system which can replace EPFO's grievance registration portal (EPFiGMS) with a more advanced and sophisticated grievance system". With this proposed call centre, EPFO plans to replace its existing grievance registration portal, EPFiGMS with advanced registration and resolution software.  How it will help people The

No President Nod To Replacing Governor As Punjab Universities' Chancellor

A Punjab bill that seeks to replace the state Governor with the Chief Minister as the Chancellor of state-run universities has been returned by the President without assent, official sources said. Punjab Universities Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and three other bills were passed by the Punjab Assembly in the two-day session in June last year but the governor had called the session "patently illegal." Later in November last year, the Supreme Court held that the June 19-20 session was constitutionally valid and directed the Punjab governor to decide on the Bills passed by the legislative assembly session. The Punjab Universities Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was for replacing the Governor with the Chief Minister as the Chancellor of state-run universities. However, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit reserved this bill along with two others -- the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Punjab Police (Amendment) Bill, 2023 -- for the consideration of the President in acco

Cave Found On Moon, Could Shelter Humans In Future

Scientists have found evidence for an accessible cave conduit beneath the moon's surface. The location of the underground cave is not far from Apollo 11's landing site. It's 250 miles (400 kilometers) from where Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed 55 years ago. Researchers analysed radar measurements by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, and compared the results with lava tubes on Earth. Their findings appeared in the journal Nature Astronomy. The finding suggests that the cave is a "promising site for a lunar base" as it offers shelter from the harsh surface environment and could support long-term human exploration of the Moon. The cave is accessible from the deepest known pit on the moon. It's located at the Mare Tranquillitatis (Sea of Tranquility) The pit, like the more than 200 others discovered up there, was created by the collapse of a lava tube. NASA is aiming to build a semi-permanent crewed base on the moon, China and Russia have also an

Now, a four-month-old video has resurfaced online that predicted the attack on the former US president. Biggs has a YouTube channel where he frequently posts videos on "visions and prophetic warnings". "I saw an attempt on his (Donald Trump) life.
